Jamaica Update

So as promised, here’s a quick summary of the vacation. For those not interested and just want to see pictures, have a look here. Anyway, on with the summary.

We landed late in Montego Bay on Sunday night, and the trip from the airport to the resort was around 1.5 hrs, but it wasn’t too bad; maybe a little loud with the crazy wedding party that was on our bus.

The weather there was gorgeous. I don’t think I’ve ever felt sun like that. Ever. I’m not usually one to burn, but I think I burnt everyday I was there, no matter how much sunscreen I put on. The last few days we were there, it rained from mid-afternoon until the evening, but it was ok as we had been out in the soon for most of the day.

The resort itself was awesome. Beach front property with great food and great entertainment. The beach area actually had a few shallow coral reefs, which made for great snorkeling. And how can I forget the swim-up bars? Best. Invention. Ever.

We didn’t stay in the resort the entire time. We did end up going out and taking a tour of Ocho Rios, visited the Dunn’s River Falls, and also made a trip out to Luminous Bay. Luminous Bay, as mosquito filled as it was, was very cool to see. It’s one of three spots in the world where the natural occurrence of micro-organisms live that give off a phosphorescent glow when they are disturbed. So we took a boat cruise out through the waters and as we rode along, we could see the glow from the fish, as well as a stingray as it moved out of the way of the boat. Very cool sight to see.

All in all, it was an awesome trip, so much so that we’re thinking of going back again next year with friends! So go ahead and check out the pictures. Some good, some not so good, but something we’ll definitely remember.

Back from fun in the sun

Back from my vacation in Jamaica and I have to say, it was GORGEOUS down there.
I’ll be posting some pictures later on and write more about the trip, but for now, here’s a few shots just to hold you over (and make you jealous):

CSquared Reviews up and running

Check it out here.
I’ve posted the review for Spiderman 3 there already, and will have more coming on a few books I’ve recently managed to skim through.

Spiderman 3

So K and I went to watch Spiderman 3 this weekend with the Matricks like the thousands of other sheep that filed into theatres. If you don’t want to hear anything about it (good or bad, and spoilers), you might as well stop reading now. For those that do care (don’t all raise your hands now), keep reading.

It’s been a while…

So for those of you who actually read this thing, I apologize for the lack of updates (not like you really care anyways). It’s been pretty hectic since I’ve come back from down under so I haven’t had a chance (read: too lazy) to post. So here we go…

Melbourne was fun.. for the first week and half or so until the novelty wore off. Weather was great and food was awesome. It definitely wasn’t a vacation, with the team working all day and parts of the weekend. During the 1.5 day weekends we had, I must say that we made the most of them.

The highlight was definitely going on the tour to Philip Island to see the penguins. Along the way, we stopped at a small animal sanctuary, where we got to see koalas and feed kangaroos!! They’re the cutest things and very dopey. Definitely something to experience if you’re ever down there. Then there were the penguins. If I could, I would have taken one home with me. They’re the smallest (and chubbiest) little things and their waddling is hilarious. They are literally the size of a small stuffed toy. Unfortunately we couldn’t take any pictures there, as the flashes would damage their vision and cause havoc (they only come out at night).

Anyways, for pictures from the trip, you can check them out here.

On a side note, I’m going to be setting up a new site with reviews of movies, music, books, etc. I’ve tried this before, but didn’t have enough content for it. I’ll give it another go and we’ll see how it goes. I’ll post here when it’s been set up.
