Made it

Well, after the longest day (or two) ever, I finally made it here to the land of Down Under. The flights weren’t all that bad, but they weren’t all that great either. The first flight from TO to HK was a bit painful as the seat next to me held a 2-3 yr old who, as it seemed, has taken up crying as a hobby. The crying wasn’t bad for the first 2-3 hours, but 10+ hours later, it kind of starts to wear on you. Oh, it also didn’t help that the family had a portable DVD player, but didn’t give her headphones to wear, so I was stuck with Dora the Explorer blaring next to me for a few hours.

When we got to HK, WL and I had a nice 12-hour layover before our flight out to Melbourne. Originally, that seemed like a royal pain, but luckily for us, my Aunt came and picked us up and took us on a whirlwind tour of HK.

First, she brought us back to her place and had breakfast with my uncle and cousin, both of which I haven’t seen in about 8 years, so it was a nice reunion. Then she took us to the Eastern side of HK to Stanley market to do some shopping and to check out the beach.

Afterwards, we hit up lunch before heading back to the central part of HK to the famed “Ladies Street Market” to do some more shopping. The market was filled, not only with lots of merchandise for the ladies, but with almost everything you can imagine. So we picked up a few things while we were there before heading back to the train station, which took us to the airport, just in time to start boarding our flight.

Of course, we couldn’t go to HK and not feed the stereotype, so you can see all of the pictures we took while we were there right here.

I’ll post again with some of the pictures of Melbourne later today. In the meantime, I’ll be looking for some shrimp, and then looking for a barbie to throw it on.
